Overview

Spice Sea Shellove, nestled in the vibrant Tun Sambanthan Complex at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, stands out as a prime destination for seafood enthusiasts seeking a bold and authentic shellout experience. This lively restaurant embraces the local culture with a warm, communal dining style that invites patrons to dive right in—literally—onto their parchment-covered tables where an array of fresh seafood is spread before you.

The heart of Spice Sea Shellove lies in its masterful fusion of spices influenced by Malaysian and Indian culinary traditions. Their signature masala shellout delivers a complex, robust flavor profile that spices things up without overpowering the natural freshness of the seafood. The crabs here impress with their tender, succulent meat, while the prawns and mollusks come cleaned and cooked to perfection, absorbing the rich, spicy gravies that make each bite satisfying. Highlights include their sambal-based sauce, rich and earthy with a well-balanced fiery kick, and the creamy buttermilk-curry sauce, which adds a fragrant, addictive layer of flavor, perfect for pairing with hot white rice.

Spice Sea Shellove also offers well-executed sides that complement the main dishes expertly. The Chicken 65—a crispy, juicy fried chicken infused with vibrant spices—is a perfect partner to the saucy seafood, providing a contrasting texture that keeps the palate engaged. The inclusion of vegetables like corn on the cob and broccoli adds balance, soaking up the saucy goodness and rounding out the meal.

The atmosphere here is unpretentious yet buzzing with local energy. Located in the heart of Brickfields, the space carries an authentic, street-food charm without compromising on quality or service. The owners and staff engage with diners warmly, ensuring fresh food arrives quickly despite being cooked to order, which adds to the overall inviting and dynamic vibe.

Whether you're gathering with family or friends, Spice Sea Shellove encourages a hands-on, messy, and fun dining experience that fosters connection and enjoyment beyond just the food. It's an ideal spot for those who appreciate communal eating, bold flavors, and fresh seafood served in generous portions. This restaurant is particularly suited for seafood lovers seeking a spicy kick infused with local flair, craving a break from conventional dining to a more immersive and vibrant feast.

If you are looking for an authentic, messy-in-the-best-way seafood experience, Spice Sea Shellove at the Pines Bazaar is an absolute gem! We recently visited for a family dinner, and it’s easily one of the most satisfying shell-out spots in Kuala Lumpur. The Food: A Symphony of Spices We tried a variety of their seafood spreads, and the flavors were incredible. Unlike some places that just use generic sauces, you can really taste the "Spice Sea" signature touch here—it’s clearly a fusion of local and Indian-inspired spices that gives the seafood a massive kick. The Sauces: We had three different levels. The darker, sambal-based sauce was rich and earthy with a perfect spicy punch. The golden-yellow buttermilk/curry sauce was the surprise star—creamy, fragrant, and so addictive when mixed with the hot white rice. The Seafood: Everything was fresh. The crabs were meaty, the prawns were succulent, and the clams/mussels were cleaned perfectly. They also include corn on the cob and broccoli, which soak up all that delicious gravy. Sides: Don't miss out on the Chicken 65 (the bright red fried chicken pieces). They are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and provide a great texture contrast to the saucy seafood. The Experience There is something so communal and fun about eating off the table! The staff lays out the parchment paper, pours the seafood right in front of you, and you just dig in with your hands. It’s the perfect place for a "makan-makan" session with friends or family where you can put your phones away and just enjoy the food. Service & Vibe The stall is located in the Pines Bazaar area, which has a very lively, authentic Brickfields atmosphere. The owner, M. CVA, is often around and ensures everyone is happy. The service was surprisingly fast considering everything is cooked fresh to order.

My first every try for shellout. If you’re a spicy lover, you can go for Masala shellout. We order for 2 pax which cost Rm50. The portion is just right not extra or less. I really recommend this shellout as the best one in the town. The crab was too soft so you don’t have to fight with it . Worthy shellout Spicy : 10/10 Taste : 11/10

Went with my friend and ordered the seafood shellout (masala, 1 pax set). Portion was generous — two sets were more than enough for both of us. The masala was flavorful with a nice kick and lots of crabs. Taste and portion were good, but the masala didn’t really get into the crab meat, so it felt plain. Seafood freshness was mixed, some fresh and some not, but overall still okay for the price and portion.
